Village was founded in 1660 by magnates Kuropatvy and was named Belzets. It is renamed on Tatariv in 1673 after the Tatar raid in 1672-1673. The name Kremintsi got accustomed after 1943, when it was forbidden to use the name of deported by then from Crimea Tatars. The old name of settlement Tatariv is presently returned.
